7 Pounds

A time very long ago some people would take 1 piece of flesh every time you commit a crime, and that's exactly what actor Will Smith will do in the movie Seven Pounds. Jelly fish have always been known as one of the deadliest creatures on earth, yet the irony of it is that they are also known for being some of the most beautiful creatures on earth. At the end of the movie Ben Thomas kills himself. Suicide is a very depressing and negative word. But the fact that he kills himself by knocking the jellyfish into the tub and it electrocutes him to death, Which is awful but it is also beautiful in its own weird way.

Stranger than fiction could just look like any normal movie but the deeper meaning behind it is pretty obvious. What it is saying is that life sometimes is in fact stranger than fiction, and the truth can often be unknown. For an example nobody knows how the earth was created, no one knows how far our galaxy goes, and no one knows how mankind started. That is what i think is the deeper meaning behind Stranger than Fiction.

Stranger than fiction has a ton of metaphors and some of them are visual metaphors. The biggest one is the window looking into Ana's bakery window. There are several scenes where he is placed by it. When he looks into it and sees her giving food to the homeless man he sees the beauty of life and he wishes he could have a fun life. When he is placed looking away from it its meant to show ignorance saying that he is reluctant to change, yet at the very end when he has changed and opened up it shows them both inside the window together.

Early in the movie Cornel West quotes Plato by saying "An unexamined life is not worth living." That is implying is saying to ignore examination is basically like sleep walking through it, basically like looking at the greatest book in the world but never reading the words. It is saying that in order to fully live your life you need to think about the deeper meaning of it. That would obviously be the most intelligent way to go through life but often the hardest, yet sometimes ignorance is bliss.

Living an examined life means you go through life finding the deeper meaning and thinking about it more than just any average person would. But when people do they share their thoughts with us hence this movie being made, and although it may be boring to watch, as it was it actually made me start thinking about things in a deeper meaning.

I don't really know much about philosophy or know much about what it means but i do know that philosophy is a very broad term. You can have philosophy on anything because all philosophy really is thinking of stuff in a deeper meaning and then sharing it with people. you can have a philosophy on literally anything in the world. You could have a philosophy on god and religion and the afterlife or you could have a philosophy on cereal, its all the same. No matter who you are you can have a philosophy on anything, wether its intelligent or not.

Chapter 2 basically introduced us to logical and conceptual ways of thinking, but what chapter 3 did was go deeper into specific things. Like tell us about the different types of knowledge. There are two types of knowledge. Knowledge by presence which is knowledge that you have because of yourself it is basically knowledge about yourself. And then the second, Acquired knowledge is knowledge that you pick up during your lifetime. Knowledge is sometimes defined as "The presence of the image of an object in mind." Therefor knowledge would be converting a real object into a reflection in ones mind, Which is pretty crazy is you think about it.

The definition of Ignorance is "Lack of knowledge on the part of one who is able to obtain knowledge." Ignorance is also divided into two types, simple ignorance and compound ignorance. Simple ignorance is when the person knows that they are being ignorant. Compound ignorance is a different type where the person is unaware that they are being ignorant, an example would be optical illusions, like a mirage.
